I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo,
they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
God did not create the heaven and earth in vain, He formed the earth
and made it to be inhabited. Created, made, and formed: these are all separate
aspects of His omnipotence. The act of creation is His power to bring things
into being from the invisible realm. The act of making is when He changes
material that already exists. The act of forming is His work in shaping
material, molding it like a potter molds clay. He has purposed, and will
restore His creation to His intention, both for the earth and its inhabitants.
