Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD
your God: for He hath given you the former rain moderately, and He will cause
to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the
first month.
One aspect of meaning of the former and latter rain refers to the outpouring of the Holy
Spirit on Israel during or near the end of the tribulation, which will usher in the baptism of the restored earth with the knowledge
of the glory of the LORD. This is the baptism that will restore His people
Israel into right standing as a nation, and place closure on their disobedience
in rejecting Jesus Christ as their Messiah. The former rain has fallen
moderately on the nation of Israel, as some have become born again. The former
and latter rain will be a Holy Spirit cloudburst over His people Israel, as He
shows Himself strong in defeating her enemies.
