But when the husbandmen saw
him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us
kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. So they cast him out of the
vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard
do unto them?
The LORD of the vineyard has promised to cast out of His vineyard that
which does not please Him. The Jews that stumbled at the Son of God sealed
their own judgment by casting Him out. Yet God has not permanently cast out
Israel in this: they have stumbled but not fallen. Instead this was an
opportunity for the church to be born, and the Gentiles to receive inheritance
from the Son. Let us be faithful husbandmen in the vineyard of the LORD of
