By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear
of the Lord men depart from evil.
When the Lord manifests Himself, His starting point is a combination
of mercy and truth. He exercises His mercy, which is the root of His chesed love,
because of His covenant keeping faithfulness. His merciful nature reaches out,
temporarily overlooking the required judgment for sin, to present you with the
truth about yourself. The fear of the Lord is the only right response: this
rewards His mercy with repentance. Take a long look at the hard truth He
reveals in the mirror of His Spirit, and totally depart from evil. This is the
highway straight to His heart, as it is written:
Proverbs 16:17 KJV
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he
that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
